Quantium Selects Cisco and Cohesity for Enterprise Data Management

Quantium, a fast-growing data science and AI firm managing more than 6PB across two datacenters, faced mounting challenges from exponential data growth and a fragmented backup environment. Pieced-together solutions (including Unitrends) were prone to failures and corruption, consumed primary storage, and lacked the scalability, simplicity and cloud integration the IT team required—prompting a search for a hyperconverged, unified data management platform that would lower TCO and support future cloud archival.

After a successful PoC, Quantium deployed Cohesity DataPlatform and DataProtect on Cisco UCS, consolidating multiple backup targets and workflows into a single solution. The result was dramatic: global deduplication and compression delivered ~20x space reduction, large backups that once took days completed in hours, file-level backups dropped from >24 to <8 hours, file search times fell from days to minutes, and backup management effort decreased by about 80%. Quantium now plans to extend the platform for NAS use, Office 365 protection and Azure-based archival.
