Proliance Surgeons Cuts PACS Image Costs by 50% and Reclaims Over 100 Staff Hours Per Year

Proliance Surgeons, a large outpatient surgical network with 35 care centers across 100 locations, faced rising costs and operational strain from aging, disparate storage and backup systems (HPE Nimble, Synology, Dell EqualLogic) that required frequent manual intervention by a dedicated engineer. Leadership wanted a single, modern data management platform to improve visibility, reduce reliance on expensive primary storage for PACS images, and eliminate legacy point products nearing end-of-life.

Proliance deployed the Cohesity–HPE hyperscale solution (DataProtect and SmartFiles) to back up and retain ~800 TB and offload PACS images, cutting PACS storage costs by 50% and reclaiming roughly 100 staff hours per year. The consolidated platform eliminated a full data center rack, delivered about $65,000 in annual savings ($25k in real estate and $40k in archival/retention), improved IT reliability and morale, and set the stage for cloud archival and further efficiency gains.
