Pearl River Community College fortifies security with a virtual ‘air-gapped’ data vault – in Cohesity FortKnox

Pearl River Community College, the oldest two-year institution in Mississippi, needed stronger protection for student data and better cyber resilience while simplifying IT operations. Using Cohesity FortKnox, the college looked to secure backups, improve recovery readiness, and support compliance and cybersecurity insurance requirements.

Cohesity implemented a virtual air-gapped data vault with FortKnox and Cisco SecureX integration, giving the college immutable, cloud-based backup copies and centralized security alerting. With Cohesity, a full 15TB backup dropped from seven days to 15 hours, recovery of 25% of the environment fell from 120 minutes to seven minutes, and the college gained faster detection of threats, improved business continuity, and better odds of securing cyber insurance.
