Navis Consolidates Global Secondary Data Operations with Cohesity

Navis, a global provider of terminal and ocean‑carrier software, faced an aging and increasingly complex secondary storage environment—EMC Isilon, Data Domain and Avamar—while consolidating datacenters, shifting to a DevOps model and accelerating cloud adoption. With a lean IT team, the company needed a simpler, scalable secondary data solution that delivered faster, reliable restores, seamless cloud and Oracle integration, and lower total cost of ownership.

Navis selected Cohesity (C2500 nodes with DataPlatform and DataProtect) and rolled it out across multiple sites, replacing Data Domain and reducing its footprint as part of a broader move to Cisco and Pure primary storage. The deployment cut production datacenters from 14 to 5, eliminated extra hardware and support contracts, and delivered more than $80K in CapEx/OpEx savings, 5:1 deduplication, dramatically faster backups/restores and significant staff time savings—while enabling disaster‑recovery, Oracle RMAN integration and future cloud/storage workflows.
