H.I.G. Capital, a global alternative-assets investment firm, faced an aging cloud backup environment for virtual servers and databases across two data centers. The legacy solution was increasingly unreliable, lacked ransomware protection, and forced engineers to rebuild VMs over days when failures occurred, tying up time and risking business continuity.

H.I.G. replaced the old system with Cohesity DataProtect and later adopted Cohesity FortKnox on AWS to store immutable backups in an isolated vault. The new approach—integrated with VMware vSphere and protecting 30 TB of data—lets teams restore virtual machines in a few clicks (the first Citrix server was back in under an hour and all within a day), significantly reducing engineer time and strengthening ransomware defenses for the firm and its investments.
