A Cohesity Case Study
A global bank faced a growing data-management problem: more than 1PB of voice-recording archives and nearly one billion files—spread across tapes and multiple silos—needed secure, searchable retention to meet strict regulations (SEC, CFTC, FINRA, GDPR) and data‑sovereignty requirements. Tape recovery was slow (weeks to months), deduplication wasn’t possible for voice files, and the bank sought lower TCO, faster recovery, a single web‑scale platform, and a replacement for its Dell EMC Isilon environment.
After an RFI/RFP and a Cohesity proof of concept, the bank deployed Cohesity DataPlatform clusters for production and DR, migrating almost one billion files from tape to a consolidated, searchable NAS. The solution cut costs comparable to low‑tier cloud archiving, improved data availability and recovery times, met regulatory needs with dedicated infrastructure, and simplified management—enabling the IT team to focus on insight and expansion of Cohesity for other archive and latency‑insensitive workloads.
