A Cohesity Case Study
eSilicon, a San Jose–based ASIC developer serving high-bandwidth networking, HPC, AI and 5G markets, adopted a cloud-first strategy to handle spiky, compute- and storage‑intensive chip design workloads. Facing a tight four‑month deadline to decommission its Bangalore data center and migrate billions of NFS files (hundreds of terabytes per project) — and with tape-based Commvault backups too slow and costly — the company needed a scalable, cloud‑native data management and backup solution.
eSilicon implemented Cohesity DataPlatform for Cloud and DataProtect on Google Cloud (working with Elastifile), migrating over 10 billion files, managing global Cohesity clusters from a single pane, and archiving inactive data to Google Coldline. The deployment delivered 2:1 compression, a threefold lower TCO versus alternatives, reduced recurring storage costs, faster recovery, scalable global management and self‑service capabilities for engineers.
