Eastern Company, a century-old tobacco manufacturer in Egypt with more than 13,000 employees and roughly $930M in annual revenue, faced growing ransomware risk and needed greater flexibility to move and recover data across on‑premises and cloud environments. Their legacy protection couldn’t guarantee clean, quickly recoverable copies or seamless migration between data centers and Azure, so the company sought a more secure, unified solution.

Working with partner iNOLOGY, Eastern implemented Cohesity DataProtect, Cohesity FortKnox (an air‑gapped cloud vault) and DataProtect as a service for Microsoft 365, enabling on‑prem backups, isolated replication, and Azure failover. The rollout cut backup time from 24 to 2 hours (92% faster), reduced recovery to Azure to about 1 hour (88% faster), achieved a 1–2 hour RPO, reduced data‑management time by 94%, and simplified operations so critical systems can be restored quickly in a ransomware event.
