Community Hospital Implements Cohesity for Hyperconverged Infrastructure

Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska is a critical-access healthcare provider supporting surgery, emergency care and multiple rural clinics. Facing a legacy, physical datacenter and a bulky, unreliable Avamar secondary storage environment for more than 800 TB of EMR, PACS and other patient data, the IT team needed a simpler, scalable solution that integrated with their Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, cut costs, and improved backup and restore reliability.

After a proof of concept, Community Hospital deployed Cohesity C2300 nodes with DataPlatform and DataProtect to protect 300+ VMs, Exchange, PACS and three EMR systems. The move delivered a 40% reduction in backup costs, cut backup windows from over seven hours to two, reduced RTO by six hours, simplified single-pane-of-glass management and reliable restores, and freed the IT team to focus on patient-facing services while enabling test/dev and future web-scale NAS and DR capabilities.
