A Cohesity Case Study
The City of Hamilton, Ontario’s fifth-largest municipality supporting more than 75 public services, was managing roughly 600 servers and 300 TB of production data across two datacenters but struggled with an aging backup environment. Their Veeam deployment couldn’t scale—poor throughput, dedupe and compression led to frequent failures, missed backup windows (as long as five days), rising costs and heavy support overhead.
Hamilton deployed Cohesity DataProtect and DataPlatform on HPE servers with Cohesity Helios for unified, cross‑site management, ransomware protection and native cloud integration. The result was dramatic: file server backups fell from 12 hours to 10 minutes, the backup window shrank from days to about five hours, incremental backups improved by 700%, dedupe delivered large space savings (over 50% reduction in disk use), and IT reclaimed 20+ staff hours per week while eliminating extra licensing and third‑party storage costs.
