A Cohesity Case Study
The San Francisco Giants, a 136-year-old Major League Baseball franchise based at AT&T Park, faced rapidly growing secondary data from multi-angle video, stats and archives that outpaced their legacy backup setup (Veeam/Symantec to a Data Domain appliance and off-site co-location). With about 125T on primary storage and exploding data needs, IT required a single, cloud-integrated solution to eliminate the costly co-location, simplify management, and provide cost-effective archiving for large files like video and scouting reports.
After a successful POC the Giants deployed Cohesity DataPlatform and DataProtect on C2300 hyperconverged nodes, leveraging Cohesity’s cloud integrations (including Amazon Glacier) and upcoming SQL clone/copy-attach features for test/dev. The rollout simplified operations, enabled protection of more than 350T, eliminated the remote co-location (saving more than $15K per year), cut backup windows by 50%, and provided a scalable hybrid cloud approach with easier replication and archiving to cold storage.
