Clearsense Adds Hadoop Backup with Cohesity

Clearsense, a healthcare data platform that ingests and analyzes clinical, operational and research signals using distributed Hadoop, needed reliable protection for both modern and traditional workloads. Their legacy backup tool (Veeam) couldn’t back up Hadoop, was slow and hard to manage, and failed to meet on‑prem backup, disaster recovery and compliance SLAs as their data volumes grew.

Clearsense deployed Cohesity (DataProtect and SmartFiles) to protect HDFS, HBase, Hive, Nutanix, bare‑metal servers and file/object data with a quick, scale‑out implementation. The result: 50x faster backups versus Veeam, up to 70% improvement in deduplication/compression, full backups in about four hours, an effective storage footprint reduced from an estimated 1 PB to ~300 TB with another 300 TB replicated to DR, easier scaling and significant cost avoidance as data grows.
