Carthago Modernizes and Simplifies Data Backup and Recovery

Carthago Reisemobilbau GmbH is a leading premium motorhome manufacturer with about 1,400 employees and a rapidly growing, modern production footprint. Its IT team of 20 struggled with an ageing infrastructure: backups ran only once a day, data volumes (driven by ERP, mail and 15+ year parts lists) were ballooning, and the company needed stable, high‑performance backup for its hyperconverged environment, a single management console, cloud archiving and faster creation of dev/test systems.

Carthago replaced servers and storage with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure and implemented Cohesity for scalable backup and recovery, deployed by Bechtle with consultancy from PLS AG. Cohesity’s unified console, SLA automation and global deduplication/compression cut backup capacity from ~50–60TB to ~30TB, reduced administration costs by 30%, enabled faster, more frequent backups and reliable restores, supported cloud long‑term retention, and lets teams spin up development/test environments directly from backups.
