80% Reduction in Backup Windows for Burris Logistics with Cohesity

Burris Logistics, a family-owned refrigerated food distributor with over 60 million cubic feet of freezer space across 15 East Coast locations, needed to modernize its storage as a costly Dell EMC lease came up for renewal. The IT team, which runs primary and DR data centers supporting many remote sites, wanted to simplify secondary storage, lower TCO, integrate with its new Pure Storage primary array and the cloud, and stop lengthy backup jobs (which were taking around 14 hours) from bleeding into business hours.

Burris deployed Cohesity as a hyperconverged secondary storage platform at both primary and DR sites. Cohesity’s SnapTree technology, instant search and zero‑cost cloning for test/dev cut backup windows by over 80% (from ~14 hours to under 2.5 hours; 25x servers backed up in under 30 minutes), delivered about 25% CapEx savings, ongoing OpEx reductions from a smaller footprint and lower power/cooling, and simplified operations through a single, easy‑to‑use interface.
