A Cohesity Case Study
1901 Group, a Reston-based IT service provider for federal, state and local agencies, faced aging backup infrastructure, shrinking capacity, and the complexity of supporting multiple legacy platforms while preparing to offer Enterprise-Backup-as-a-Service that met strict security and compliance requirements (FedRAMP/FISMA/Ato). The company needed a predictable, scalable, multi-tenant solution to reduce costs, simplify operations, and support cloud archival for its public-sector customers.
After a successful proof of concept, 1901 Group deployed Cohesity DataPlatform and DataProtect across data centers and AWS GovCloud, consolidating backup, scale-out NAS, disaster recovery and archival. The rollout delivered a 35% reduction in costs, 115x data reduction through deduplication and compression, recovery times cut from hours to under one minute, and management of over 5 PB of logical data on ~45 TiB of target storage—enabling scalable, compliant EBaaS and seamless DR and cloud archival for federal clients.
