How Data Is Changing Offshore Work

Lundin Energy, an offshore oil and gas operator expanding into wind and hydropower, needed a better way to manage the huge volume of data coming from its Edvard Grieg platform in the North Sea. The company wanted to improve safety, reduce manual work, support remote monitoring, and use data more effectively for maintenance and sustainability, and turned to Cognite and its Cognite Data Fusion platform to help.

Using Cognite Data Fusion, Lundin Energy centralized platform data onshore, enabling remote analysis, condition monitoring, and more data-driven maintenance planning. The result was less manual follow-up, better safety practices, and smarter operations, including a 5% cut in average CO2 emissions last year, about 10 million NOK in savings, and the equivalent of a couple thousand cars removed from the road.
