Aker BP, an oil exploration and development company on the Norwegian continental shelf, needed a better way to unify and use operational data for condition monitoring at its Ivar Aasen site. Many valuable sources—such as work orders, work permits, document systems, and HMS information—were locked in systems that were difficult to access, limiting the potential of Siemens’ monitoring solution. Cognite provided the cloud-native industrial data platform that let Siemens read clean, contextualized data from a single secure entry point, including 150,000 time series, 20 billion data points, and more than 400,000 documents. Cognite helped cut integration effort from an estimated 1,500 hours to 200 hours, saving about 1,300 hours overall, while enabling faster, more intuitive visualizations and supporting safer, more efficient predictive maintenance.
