How Cognite Data Fusion Helped Omv Automate Multiphase Flow Allocation

OMV, an Austrian integrated oil and gas producer, needed a better way to allocate condensate-gas and water-gas ratios across co-mingled well production streams. Because well testing was noisy, manual, and increasingly disruptive as field deliverability declined, OMV turned to Cognite and Cognite Data Fusion™ to improve allocation accuracy and support more efficient production planning.

Cognite helped OMV ingest data from four sources, including OSIsoft PI and Aspen HYSYS, into Cognite Data Fusion™ and build a model that automatically identifies well perturbations and back-allocates CGRs and WGRs. The resulting dashboard gives production engineers clear visibility into the outputs, helping them verify results and adjust models. OMV estimates the solution delivers about $1.25 million in annual value by increasing gas condensate production and eliminating manual calculation work.
