Case Study: TEVA achieves secure OPC data tunnelling and aggregation with Cogent DataHub

TEVA combines tunnelling and aggregation to network OPC data through a firewall

TEVA API Pharmaceuticals in Hungary needed to connect new control applications through several OPC stations to an existing SCADA network, but the OPC servers and SCADA systems were on different computers separated by a company firewall. This made direct OPC networking difficult because of DCOM and Windows security configuration, and TEVA also needed a way to aggregate data from multiple OPC stations into one common data set.

Cogent DataHub provided the solution by enabling OPC tunnelling and aggregation across the firewall. TEVA installed DataHub on both the OPC server and SCADA sides, simplifying network communication and live data transfer; the system is now moving about 7,000 points in real time, and TEVA said future OPC integrations will also use Cogent DataHub.
