Case Study: ABB secures TANAP pipeline communications with Cogent DataHub

Secure networking of real-time and alarm data

ABB supported the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), a 1,850-kilometer gas pipeline across Turkey, with the challenge of securely moving real-time control and alarm data between remote stations and a main control centre. To meet the demands of this highly critical energy infrastructure, ABB used Cogent DataHub for secure networking of OPC DA and OPC A&E data over the pipeline’s communications backbone.

Cogent DataHub enabled highly redundant, secure tunnelling across fibre-optic networks with VSAT satellite backup, integrating field and control-centre OPC systems while also supporting server-to-server bridging and custom health monitoring scripts. The result was a reliable, scalable control system handling hundreds of thousands of data values for TANAP, helping ABB deliver a secure and resilient pipeline communications architecture with strong redundancy and high operational visibility.
