Preview of the Kimberly-Clark Case Study

Kimberly-Clark - Customer Case Study

Kimberly-Clark’s tissue paper facility in Niederbipp, Switzerland needed to connect its existing ABB QCS quality control system with a new Viconsys Process and Quality Vision System. Because both systems were behind firewalls and only exposed OPC server interfaces, the company needed a secure way to move real-time data across the network without relying on DCOM. Cogent DataHub was chosen to provide OPC tunneling and bridging.

Cogent DataHub was installed on both systems, one alongside the ABB QCS server and one on the Viconsys computer, then configured to tunnel and bridge OPC data between them. The result was a secure, reliable connection that let both systems exchange data, with a test link running in a few hours and the full solution completed within a few days. The new setup enabled Kimberly-Clark to fully integrate its quality control systems and maintain high product quality.
