Closed-Loop Control of Weaving Machines using the Cogent DataHub

RWTH Aachen University’s Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) in Germany was working to optimize warp tension in high-speed air-jet weaving machines so it could maintain process stability while setting tension at the lowest possible level. To support this challenge, the university evaluated Cogent DataHub as part of a setup that connected the weaving machine through an iba System OPC server.

Cogent DataHub was used to connect the OPC data to WebView and quickly build a web-based HMI for monitoring and controlling the loom. The result was a stable browser-based control system that let the team manage the machine from web browsers and even tablets, giving them fast implementation, easy operation, and a modern interface for further textile machine research.
