Case Study: PowerData Limited achieves real-time remote monitoring with Cogent DataHub

Caribbean resort facilities and power stations use DataHub to monitor system output and performance

PowerData Limited, based in St. Maarten, provides real-time and historical online data reporting for resorts, shopping centers, and power stations across the Caribbean. The company needed a way for managers and engineers to monitor power generation equipment and other machinery remotely, in real time, from any location. To meet this challenge, PowerData turned to Cogent DataHub and its web-based data display tools.

Using Cogent DataHub, PowerData implemented a solution that streams live OPC data through a DataHub Table applet in a standard web browser. The system creates a direct TCP link to the DataHub, which pulls data from the monitoring equipment and serves it without refresh delays, giving users up-to-the-second visibility. The result was easier and more reliable remote monitoring, improved station status assessment, and significantly increased reliability for customers such as the Sonesta Maho Beach Hotel and Needsmust Electricity Power Station.
