BP Pipelines, a major U.S. pipeline operator, needed to add leak detection to its SCADA environment but struggled to move process data from its Telvent SCADA system and real-time Sybase database into an OPC-based leak detection tool. After months of failed attempts to find a compatible OPC/ODBC connection, the team turned to Cogent DataHub for help.

Cogent DataHub provided a scripted bridge that connected to the Telvent/Sybase system, identified the active hot server, and fed the data reliably to the leak detection system’s OPC server. The same solution was then extended to log leak detection results back into Oracle for reuse by SCADA, giving BP greater flexibility, consistent data flow, and easier ongoing maintenance without interrupting operations.
