The Natural History Museum Denmark, custodian of a world-class natural history collection, needed to create an elegant and accessible public-facing online platform to showcase its vast holdings. The museum partnered with Cogapp to build an open-source solution that would serve both the scientific community and the general public, integrating with its existing digitization and data publishing programs.

Cogapp architected a platform that seamlessly pulls collection metadata from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and uses its own Refinery Services pipeline to process high-resolution, deep-zoom imagery. The solution includes a powerful, multilingual search interface that translates common names into scientific terms, making the collection explorable for all audiences. This project formalized the museum's publishing process, resulting in a significant increase in submissions to GBIF and providing open-source software for other institutions to use.
