National Trust for Scotland puts thousands of Robert Burns artefacts online with Cogapp

The National Trust for Scotland, a guardian of Scottish heritage, sought to provide broader digital access to the extensive collection of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. Their challenge was to move beyond limited physical access and create an online platform for both academic researchers and the general public. They partnered with digital agency Cogapp to build this solution.

Cogapp implemented a new digital collection featuring intuitive search, deep-zoom IIIF imagery, and an elegant relationship explorer tool. The solution integrated thousands of archival items and provided tools for the Trust to curate rich thematic pages. As a result, the platform facilitates global access to Burns' work, fosters deeper appreciation, and has inspired the Trust to engage Cogapp as their primary digital partner for future ambitions.
