Blue Remembered Hills reviews GDIF’s site-specific Blue Remembered Hills at Thamesmead with Cog Design

Cog Design attended a production of 'Blue Remembered Hills' by theatre company De Roovers as part of the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF). The challenge was to experience and review a site-specific performance held in a unique, mysterious location in Thamesmead, evaluating its effectiveness and its connection to the local cultural landscape.

The solution involved Cog Design's team attending the fully coordinated event. While the production had mixed success in its casting, Cog noted that it effectively captured the story's underlying violence and delivered a fantastic sense of spectacle with beautiful lighting and a stunning pyrotechnic ending. The result was a fresh, gripping, and moving interpretation of an old story, successfully showcased within a unique local landscape, which Cog Design identified as the core purpose of an international arts festival.
