Global Cybersecurity Company migrates 10,000+ VMs and expands to ~16 million network segments with CodiLime

A global cybersecurity company faced the challenge of rapidly rising VMware licensing costs and a hard limit on its VLAN-based network architecture, which prevented further scaling. CodiLime was engaged to solve both problems simultaneously without disrupting the engineering teams that relied on this infrastructure daily.

CodiLime designed and executed a phased migration from VMware to Proxmox VE, moving over 10,000 VMs with near-zero user disruption. In parallel, they introduced an EVPN/VXLAN network design to expand capacity from ~4,094 segments to approximately 16 million. CodiLime also built custom extensions for Proxmox, including optimized restart logic that slashed full-cluster network reload times from 45 minutes to under 8, dramatically reducing both costs and operational overhead.
