Product Hunt, a 44-person company in the communities/product-management space with an 8‑person dev team, needed a reliable way to test and deploy as they grew beyond two developers. Before Codeship they deployed with rake tasks and local testing, which made it hard to ensure feature branches were properly tested before merges.

By adopting Codeship they implemented automated CI with linting for Ruby and CoffeeScript (SCSS next), enforced “no merge until tests pass,” and automated staging and production deploys (Heroku) once reviews and tests are green. The standardized, single-step deployment flow — plus responsive support — gave the team confidence to deploy several times a day and reduced repetitive review work.
