AnSyMo led master-level Software Reengineering course uses CodeScene in an assignment to restructure existing software. Interview with Dr. Henrique Rocha, University of Antwerp

The University of Antwerp’s AnSyMo research group, which leads a master-level Software Reengineering course, needed a practical way to help students understand and restructure existing software. They used CodeScene to support the course’s focus on visualization, metrics, and identifying refactoring opportunities in real codebases.

CodeScene was implemented as part of a course assignment to analyze software and surface technical debt, hotspots, and refactoring targets. According to the case study, the tool gave students better insight into where to start, complemented SonarQube and other teaching materials, and was easy to learn—most students were comfortable using it after one lab session.
