RTÉ, Ireland’s national public-service broadcaster, needed a highly available, fault-resilient file sharing platform to support critical operations and meet a demanding business continuity plan. Using Codec-dss, RTÉ aimed to replace an aging mirrored NetWare 4.11 environment with something more robust that could withstand major infrastructure failures without disrupting users.

Codec-dss designed and implemented a three-node cluster based on NetWare 5.1 Cluster Services, with NSS mirroring across separate buildings and a Fibre Channel backup system for added protection. The result was a zero-downtime move to a high-availability environment, successfully migrating more than 1,200 user home directories and server data, with a scalable design that RTÉ can expand further in the future.
