Internet2, a member-owned advanced technology community founded by leading U.S. higher education institutions, needed to simplify a fragmented backup environment. Its three-person IT team was juggling Connected Backup, IBM Tivoli and BackupPC to protect dozens of servers and endpoints, creating heavy administrative overhead and a clear need for a single, cross-platform solution with Shibboleth integration, easy deployment and scalability.

Internet2 deployed Code42’s CrashPlan PROe in a public cloud strategy, protecting 12 Windows servers, 150 Linux servers and 90 laptops/desktops within two weeks while integrating with Shibboleth for secure, controlled access. The unified, encrypted solution and single management console eliminated manual offsite copies, cut staff time and costs, and provided scalable reporting and peace of mind for ongoing expansion.
