The Welsh Government cuts testing time from hours to minutes with Code Enigma

The Welsh Government faced a significant challenge as the Behat testing process for their Drupal feature branches took many hours to complete, slowing down their deployment cycle. Code Enigma was tasked with finding a solution to drastically reduce this testing time without introducing vendor lock-in.

Code Enigma implemented a solution using Kubernetes and Amazon EKS to run tests in parallel on replica Drupal sites deployed in Docker containers. This approach removed previous infrastructure limitations and cut the testing time down from hours to just minutes. The solution, while requiring custom scripting to overcome an Amazon EKS API bug, delivered significant value and efficiency gains for the Welsh Government.

The Welsh Government
