St John's College, University of Cambridge upgrades to Drupal 9 with Code Enigma in 10+ years of collaboration

St John's College, University of Cambridge, needed to replace its outdated, non-responsive Drupal 6 website, which was out of support and restrictive for its communications team. The college faced the challenge of creating a modern, mobile-first site on a limited budget while also needing to preserve complex intranet features. Code Enigma was commissioned to design and build a new solution.

Code Enigma solved this by first building a new public-facing Drupal 8 (later upgraded to Drupal 9) site with a magazine-like design and flexible landing page editor, allowing the college to break free from restrictive templates. The intranet features were rebuilt later on a retainer basis. The solution provided a seamless mobile experience, improved content findability, and a unified brand presence. Code Enigma continues to provide ongoing AWS infrastructure and Drupal support, maintaining the site for the long term.
