The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, a UK-based charity, faced a major challenge with its Drupal 8 website. The site experienced extreme traffic spikes a few times a year when students accessed exam results, which risked crashes and performance issues. Code Enigma was engaged to provide a hosting solution that could manage this load without exceeding the charity's budget.

Code Enigma implemented a flexible AWS hosting solution using EC2 AutoScaling Groups to dynamically scale the infrastructure to meet the demand during peak periods. The solution also included scaling for the RDS database and Elasticache instances. This approach successfully handled tens of thousands of additional visits during exam weeks and then scaled back down, preventing website crashes and student frustration. Code Enigma also helped the charity secure non-profit discounts from AWS.
