North Yorkshire County Council moves to PHP 8.1 with Code Enigma

North Yorkshire County Council engaged Code Enigma to set up and support a new LocalGov Drupal website to replace their main site following a council reorganization. Their challenge was managing this new Drupal 9 project alongside an existing Drupal 7 site for Selby Council on the same infrastructure, which was preventing them from using the required PHP 8.1 for the new build.

Code Enigma proposed a solution to separate the infrastructure, allowing the older site to remain on PHP 7.4 while the new LocalGov Drupal site could run on PHP 8.1. This enabled the NYCC team to successfully develop and stage their new website. The vendor, Code Enigma, successfully implemented the technical separation, providing the council with the necessary environments and support to move forward with their project.
