A Code and Theory Case Study
Sutter Health, a California not-for-profit healthcare system, sought to address the record-high rates of anxiety and depression among youth. They partnered with the digital agency Code and Theory to create an accessible mental health resource. The challenge was to build a trustworthy and impactful tool that could provide proactive support to teens and young adults.
Code and Theory designed and launched Scout, a first-of-its-kind mental health and resilience progressive web app. Developed with a youth advisory board, it features personalized content, self-expression tools, and a clinical framework, all built with strict privacy protections. The solution achieved significant impact, with 93% of users finding its content meaningful. It also won a 2024 Webby Award, and its launch on World Mental Health Day highlighted its role as an accessible, impact-driven tool.
