A Cockroach Labs Case Study

Preview of the Spreedly Case Study

Spreedly - Customer Case Study

Spreedly, a payment orchestration company serving 50K+ businesses and handling 1 billion payment methods across 100+ currencies, faced rising operational complexity from a legacy NoSQL key-value stack, split secondary systems, and a push to move to the public cloud. To meet requirements for high availability, enterprise security, transactional correctness, low-latency multi-region access, and easier cloud-first operations, Spreedly chose CockroachDB from Cockroach Labs.

Cockroach Labs helped Spreedly migrate to CockroachDB, enabling a consolidated cloud-native platform (self-hosted on AWS across multiple AZs) that uses out-of-the-box monitoring, partitioning, and change data capture to integrate storage and analytics with minimal disruption. The migration let Spreedly retire several legacy components—3 custom code bases, 2 databases, and 3 protocols—reduced maintenance through seamless rolling upgrades, and positioned them for multi-region, low-latency growth while improving overall operational efficiency.
