Case Study: MUX achieves high availability and multi-cloud flexibility with Cockroach Labs CockroachDB

A Cockroach Labs Case Study

Preview of the MUX Case Study

Migrating from Postgres to Distributed SQL in search of high availability, low latency and hybrid/multi-cloud flexiblity

Mux, a video streaming and analytics platform, needed a database that could support high availability, low latency, and multi-cloud/multi-region deployments without sacrificing uptime or flexibility. Its existing PostgreSQL-based setup could not easily meet these requirements, especially for distributed customers and region-specific data needs.

Cockroach Labs provided CockroachDB as the database backbone for Mux Video, serving as a drop-in replacement for PostgreSQL with minimal changes. With multi-region support, geo-partitioning, and resilient traffic routing, Mux improved performance, supported GDPR-related data residency needs, and reduced downtime risk, while also making future scaling and cloud portability easier.
