How Rapidops built one of the leading sales CRM and automation platforms, Salesmate, with CockroachDB as their distributed database

RapidOps, the team behind the Salesmate sales and customer journey platform, needed a more scalable database than MySQL as usage grew. They were running into read/write bottlenecks, long downtime during failures or table changes, difficult geo-replication, and cumbersome backup and monitoring processes, all while supporting a fast-growing microservices-based product.

RapidOps chose Cockroach Labs’ CockroachDB, starting with CockroachDB Core and then moving to an enterprise deployment on GKE. With CockroachDB, they gained distributed, ACID-compliant scaling, easier debugging and monitoring, and much faster recovery with minimal disruption; they migrated into production in about 2 months. Today, their 5-node cluster supports 45 microservices, 630+ APIs, 250+ background jobs, and peak throughput of 380 queries per second, while maintaining 99% availability and keeping CPU usage under 50%.
