Case Study: finleap achieves cloud-native scale and compliance with Cockroach Labs

A Cockroach Labs Case Study

How finleap created a top-to-bottom cloud-native architecture designed to scale

finleap connect, headquartered in Germany, needed a cloud-native data architecture that could support its fast-growing open banking platform across multiple countries while meeting strict regulatory and availability requirements. Its existing VM-based setup and MySQL backend created scaling bottlenecks, frequent failovers, and long downtime for schema changes, making it difficult to keep pace with customer demand. To solve this, finleap turned to Cockroach Labs and CockroachDB as part of its move to Kubernetes.

With Cockroach Labs and CockroachDB, finleap migrated to a distributed, cloud-neutral database that works natively with Kubernetes and supports high availability, elastic scale, and strong consistency. The team was able to automate deployments, backups, rollbacks, and schema changes, run across multiple cloud providers and regions, and reduce latency by keeping data close to users for GDPR compliance. Finleap reports major operational relief, faster migrations, and a platform now running in 11 European countries with 24/7 availability.
