Form3, a London-based fintech that provides managed payments infrastructure and a single API for banks and fintechs, faced the challenge of building a cloud-native, enterprise-grade payment platform on microservices and Kubernetes while integrating five different, constantly changing payment schemes and avoiding cloud-vendor lock-in. To meet requirements for SQL compatibility, strong consistency, scalability, and ease of operation on Kubernetes, Form3 selected Cockroach Labs’ CockroachDB.

Cockroach Labs implemented a distributed, multi-cloud CockroachDB deployment across AWS, GCP, and Azure (replication factor of three), enabling strong consistency, local read performance, and isolation between clusters to mitigate outage and regulatory risk. The solution delivered 24/7 availability, supported five payment system integrations, and let Form3 run across three public cloud providers while simplifying operations and speeding platform portability and scale.
