CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr., needed a faster, more reliable, and more cost-effective way to manage growing data demands across its 3,800 restaurants and internal teams. Its small data team was dealing with data from many sources and formats, while the legacy ETL approach made development slow, complicated, and expensive.

To modernize its stack, CKE Restaurants migrated ingestion to AWS and used Coalesce for data transformation in Snowflake. With Coalesce, the team can model and transform data visually, handle JSON and XML without heavy coding, and run jobs more seamlessly; one point-of-sale transaction log feed was cut from over 60 minutes to under 8 minutes, a 7x improvement.
