A CO2 AI Case Study
Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, sought to improve the accuracy of its Scope 3 emissions measurement across its global portfolio of over 5,500 hotels to meet its Net Zero by 2050 goal. The challenge was navigating the complexity of different languages, operational settings, and data formats to gather precise activity data from each location. To address this, Accor partnered with the sustainability platform CO2 AI.
CO2 AI implemented a solution involving tailored annual surveys, translated into 11 languages, to collect specific data on activities across 11 emissions categories. In collaboration with Quantis, CO2 AI used the collected data to modulate emission factors for unparalleled accuracy, increasing footprint precision by 75 times. This allowed Accor to compute a detailed carbon footprint for each hotel, collecting 300,000 data points in 2023 and providing a critical foundation for its 50% Scope 3 reduction target by 2030.
