The customer, FIRE, commissioned vendor CMYK to produce a series of animated short films for the U.S. semiquincentennial. Their challenge was to create content about complex historical figures and contested ideas that was intellectually serious yet visually bold, avoiding a dry or didactic tone. The project required producing eight fully animated episodes under a compressed timeline, with each needing its own research, script, and full production build.

CMYK developed a unique comic book and collage visual style from scratch, which honored the historical material while keeping pacing fast and visual energy high. They produced the episodes in batches to manage the timeline and feedback. The resulting series launched to great success, with each video accumulating over 180,000 views in its first week and reaching 1.5 million views by July 2026, exceeding all expectations for CMYK and their client.
