Southeastern Louisiana University, a 14,000-student institution, needed to improve the performance and scalability of its virtual desktop infrastructure as student lab usage grew from 100 to 800 desktops. Working with vendor CMA Technology Solutions, the university sought a faster storage foundation to support educational applications without exceeding a tight IT budget.

CMA Technology Solutions helped Southeastern Louisiana University implement a NetApp all-flash EF560 system with NetApp SANtricity in an FC-SAN configuration. The new platform delivered up to 10x more IOPS, cut login times from as long as 10 minutes to about 15–20 seconds, improved application responsiveness, saved nearly half a rack of data center space, and reduced client computing support time by more than 30%.
