MobileBridge is a mobile relationship and loyalty engagement platform that delivers targeted promotions and analytics to Android and iOS apps. They faced a scaling crisis when their single high-end MySQL AWS instance could no longer handle the surge in connections, concurrency, and query load caused by large promotion campaigns, and sharding or moving to NoSQL were impractical due to cost, time, and application constraints.

MobileBridge adopted Clustrix from the AWS Marketplace, used the installer to spin up a four-node cluster, and migrated via mysqldump with no compatibility or scale issues. The scale-out SQL solution let them replace a costly single instance with smaller, cheaper nodes, quickly add capacity for promotion-driven spikes, and plan rapid growth (to 25–50 nodes) while focusing development on the app rather than database operations.
