Case Study: Photobox achieves no downtime and 89% fewer peak-season incidents with ClustrixDB (Clustrix)

A Clustrix Case Study

Preview of the PhotoBox Case Study

Flies through peak holiday season with no downtime and no lost revenue

Photobox, Europe’s leading online photo e-commerce site with millions of members and massive holiday traffic spikes (over 10x normal volume), was running up against the limits of a traditional MySQL master/slave setup and faced less than a year of conventional capacity left. Full sharding options were costly and complex, so Photobox needed a different approach to maintain performance and reliability during peak seasons.

Photobox deployed ClustrixDB after rigorous testing; the scale-out SQL database met their compatibility, performance, and robustness requirements and was rolled out across dual clusters for site-level failover. The result was a fully fault-tolerant database tier with seamless scaling, markedly better uptime and performance during peak season, and a reported 89% reduction in December service incidents year‑on‑year.
