SmartBear, a software company with more than 20 tools for developers, testers, and business teams, needed a clearer way to understand cost per customer and cost per product across its multi-tenant SaaS environment. Using CloudZero, SmartBear wanted to overcome AWS tagging challenges, especially as it grew through acquisitions, and get more granular cost insights to improve pricing, packaging, and margin decisions.

SmartBear implemented CloudZero’s cloud cost intelligence platform and quickly gained visibility into costs by service, group, customer, and product across 10 cloud accounts. With CloudZero, SmartBear improved alignment between engineering and finance, refined go-to-market strategies, and reduced infrastructure waste; in one case, disabling an AWS Config service cut costs by $1,000 per month. CloudZero also helped SmartBear raise revenue without additional engineering resources and make better pricing and packaging decisions based on customer usage and cost data.
