How Gaming Software Company Beamable Turned Multi-Tenant Infrastructure Costs Into Per-Customer Metrics

Beamable, a gaming software company, needed a better way to understand its multi-tenant AWS cloud costs at a customer level. Instead of only seeing broad account-wide bills, the Beamable team wanted to break spend down by customer, then by game per customer, and even by service per game per customer to improve margin visibility and pricing decisions. To do this, Beamable turned to CloudZero and its cloud cost intelligence platform.

CloudZero worked with Beamable to create custom dimensions and granular IDs for customer, realm, and service-level usage, including measuring API call time in milliseconds to attribute costs more accurately. As a result, Beamable gained visibility into per-customer infrastructure spend, improved its cost-per-game and cost-per-service analysis, and could evaluate pricing changes and margin impact more effectively. With CloudZero, Beamable also identified how to separate customer-driven costs from baseline infrastructure spend, giving the company better input for future business decisions.
